Shawn Nagles Big Ben, Airbrushed and dry brushed with, acryllics, pastels and enamels. I first bought this kit, from an ebay seller, in the states, it was advertised as saving private zombie, and seemed a very good price, so as I liked the look of the kit, and had never seen it before, so therefor, unaware of the history behind it, I bought it, the seller got the kit to me very quickly, and I was very impressed, until I opened the packaging, and realised what a load of crap, I had been lumbered with, eveything about this piece of resin, screamed poor quality, so I got suspicious,
and asked a few people on the
Clubhouse, bulletin board, if they knew, anything about this kit, it turned out to be a re-cast of Shawn Nagles Big Ben, a kit I still know very little about, is it based on  a film, comic, or television I dont know. what I do know, is I loved the idea behind it, and was gutted to hear I had a re-cast. until John diaz of Jayco toys came to the rescue, he very kindly let me have an original, that he had in his posession. John got the kit to me even faster than the re-caster did. The difference in quality between, the thai shit and the original is unbeliveable, I took some shots see below to highlight the differences,  I think most people, are aware of the dammage re- casters cause to the hobby, but until you come into contact with them yourself, you dont realise how bloody shoddy the products they sell really are, so if you do come across this kind of re-cast crap AVOID at all costs,
it really isnt worth the money you think you may be saving.
On to the paint job, after I had primed the kit, I airbrushed the clothing drab green, then airbrushed the folds with khaki, the flesh is a mix of pale flesh and green, to give the rotten look, the skeleton is bleached bone, and the guts, and muscles burgundy and pink, after all these base colours, where on, I gave the whole kit a heavy wash with burnt umber, then dry brushed with grey to show ageing and distress to the clothing. thanks again to John at Jayco toys, this now ranks with my favourite kits.

The most noticeable difference, with the re-cast  is there is no base provided obviously the re-caster didnt  manage to get his grubby hands on one,and the figure is  overall  slightly smaller, and it looks as though the head has been pinched bettween finger and thumb, so it is slightly elongated, the fingers are missing off both hands all the detailing is gone on the boots, and the textures in the flesh, and muscles, has gone the rifle is missing most of its detailing, this all has to be because the casting is absolutely piss poor, if all any one ever sees of this kit is the re-cast, then they are missing out on a great sculpt, by Shawn Nagle, and as enthusiasts of this hobby, we should be actively discourageing the people responsible for this crap the short answer is dont buy it, support people like Shawn, who sculpt, and people like John Diaz, Ed Bowkley
David Nicholson and all the others who put there hearts souls and money into this hobby so that we can continue doing that which gives us pleasure, KITBUILDING.
