Billiken Dracula, hand painted with acrylics. This kit, was bought, from a second hand shopin Liverpool, for £60.00 about $75.00. It was partly painted but unbuilt, the model was a cinch, to build with no filling or sanding, required. painting it was a joy, with loads of detailing, in the features, and the clothing. The bas was scratch built, by myself, using balsa wood, milliput, wire mesh, and plastic piping. I first made a sketch, to the right scale, onto white card. I then cut around the individual, elements, ie window arch, walls, floor and steps. I then transfered thes templates, onto a piece of 4" by 1/2" by 3ft length of balsa, for the window struts, I used a length of 1/2" by 3ft, wood, once all the balsa components, where cut out, I hot glued them together, to give me the framework, that I needed. The leaded window, effect, was achieved, by cutting a sheet of wire mesh, to size, I then scanned a picture, of a stained glass window, from a library book, and printed it onto an overhead transparency, I then glued the mesh, to the transparency, and nibbbled the edges, to give it the apearance, of a broken window. I then attached the completed unit, to the window arch, using hot glue. The column/pillar, is a length of 2" plumbers pie, that was glued to the base. I then layered the whole structure, with Milliput, I then shaped and moulded, the Milliput, using wet hands, to get the bricks/stones, effect I was looking for. I then stippled the soft putty, with a medium wire brush, to create some texture. I painted it using washes and drybrushing, Finally I raide my mothers flower arranging, box, for the dead vines, that i wrapped around the structure, for a finishing touch to a great kit.
