Bela Lugossi Dracula Figure
BACK
Tony Mcvey 1/4 scale vynil Dracula figure. airbrushed with acrylics, pearlescents, enamels. and pastels aplied by brush for shading. This kit is huge, 23" tall and when filled with plaster as I would highly recomend weighs in at an alarming 9lbs. so it is not one for shelf display, I have it standing on the floor at the side of my tv. I got this beautiful kit from Killer Kits here in the UK, a lot of folks are put off by the shear size of the model, the build up is relatively straight forward for the figure. but the cape is an absolute, nightmare, if you arent familiar with vynil kits this could cause real heartache, the trimming, glueing puttying and reheating, that I had to do on this cape, almost made me ditch the whole project, but I stayed with it. and the work was worth it the finished job really is eyecatching.
the likeness to bela is quite eerie, and the pose on the steps is spot on, you can almost here his voice welcoming you to his domain. there is also a bust of this kit available
see here for pics
All the parts washed and trimmed ready for painting, I dont use primer on Vynil kits
I find no need to when using acrylics, the coverge is normally excelent.
Tamya flat flesh airbrushed, pastels used for shading, vest and shirt base coated fawn, pictures below head protected with cling film, while I airbrush clothing shirt and vest taped while suit is airbrushed midnight blue, not black inner cape, pearlescent red mixed with grey and brown, outer cape and shoes satin coal black steps black dry brushed grey .
