Geometric designs
The Mummy
Geomeric designs the Mummy, hand painted in acrylics.
There are parts, from three different models, in this build up. The Mummy figure, is from Geometric, designs. The sarcophagus, lid and floor, are from the recent, Polar lights, Mummy based, on the new  movie from Universal studios. The broken pillars, and stones, are from the Monogram illuminators, Mummy (Aurora re-issue). The Geometric figure, is the best likeness, of the Karloff Mummy, that I have seen so far, but the vinyl, kit does not include a base. I had seen the new Polar lights Mummy, and the figure did absolutely nothing for me, but I did like the base, and coffin. So I bought the kit, and relegated, the figure to my spares box. I also had an Aurora re-issue, Mummy that I had built up but wasnt happy with, but once again I liked the base. So out came my X-acto knife, and I cut uot the elements, I needed for this project, and hot glued them, onto the base. I then used Milliput, to blend all the pieces, into one unit. For the paint job, I give the figure, a coat of fawn, then I gave it a wash of burnt umber, working the liquid, into all the folds and creases, in the bandages. I then dry brushed, with yellow ochre, and then again with light sand, to bring out the details. I dry brushed selected areas, with ash grey, and flat laquered to finish. The base was coated, with with a light brown, and then dry brushed with light sand, and given a final wash, with burnt umber to, get into all the cracks. For the stones and pillars, I base coated with light brown, I again dry brushed with light sand, then I washed with burnt sienna, and wiped off with kitchen paper, so the paint would run into the hieroglyphics, and give a marble effect. the coffin and lid, where simply painted dark brown, the dry brushed, with gradually lighter, shades of  brown, to bring out the high lights.
I then added blue and gold, for an authentic ancient Egyptian look. On the Polar lights kit, the coffin is laid horizontally, it works both ways, but I prefer the upright look.
This is probably, one of the easiest, projects that I have built, taking only a weekend from start to finish.
