Polar lights 1/4 scale cold cast porcelain Wolfman, sculpted by Randy Bowen. airbrushed with acrylics, and artists inks, highlights dry brushed acrylics. this is the limmited edition resin version, of the smaller scale polar lights styrene, kit from a couple of years, ago, the small kit has always been one of my favourites, so I couldnt resist the chance to own this stunninng version, I decided to re-positon the figure, so that you can see more of him through the trees, I always thought the original pose was a little static, any way. Click here to see original pose, Before I started butchering a $150.00 kit though I thought I would try my ideas, with the styrene kit first, it took about ten minutes with a craft saw, and the results where exactly what I wanted. So I started the resin kit. Cold cast porcelain, is not styrene!!! three hours later, with several worn saw blades, and many blisters, also shedding buckets of sweat, with worry, because as you can see from the progress shots, I had actually started to paint the figure, before I decided to re-pose it (not a smart move) I had cut the arms, and hands, on the figure, I also cut, the branches, on the tree to accomodate the new pose, the base, also had to be filled, as I was not using the original foot holes now, After pinning and glueing the newly realigned joints, I puttied the seams and left them to dry, it was then just a case of getting on with the paint job, the figure was air brushed with acrylics, the fur was dry brushed, the trees where airbrushed, wth gradually lighter shades aof brown artists ink, All in all I am really pleased with the way this job turned out, it could have gone horribly wrong, as it is it is now one of my favourites, i really have got get back to some smaller scale models though, these 1/4 scale monsters are taking over the house.
